Pai (the land of the sleeping clouds)

I rented A motorbike in chiang mai and made my way to the mountain town of Pai. It took about 4 1/2 hours but I enjoyed every minute of the journey. there is something about going 100 km's (60mph) in the rain, on a pothole infested highway,  that brings you closer to god. Before I arrived to this place I used Costa Rica as the definition of the word green but until you have laid your eyes on the rice fields tucked between the mountains of northern Thailand, you cannot define how green things truly can be.  I spent my days and nights in a small bungalow by the river, reading and relaxing in a hammock. It was really nice to have time alone, With my thoughts and nothing else, I guess it was a sort of meditation.  I don know if I have ever felt that free before, maybe it was being caught in the rain storm, or the smile that came as the sun dried my clothes but this was one journey I hope to never forget.

I now understand why they call this the land of the sleeping clouds.
